While the Pulp Fiction director’s last outing was his first foray into the western genre, and there’s no denying it was also a whole heap of excessive fun (something he is known to excel at), it appears as if it’s something he’s taken a shine to; as Quentin Tarantino has now confirmed that his next movie will be another western, though not a Django Unchained sequel.
Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (where he was promoting the release of the Django Unchained graphic novel), Tarantino said of his next movie “I haven’t told anyone this publicly, but I will say the genre: it’s a western,” adding “I had so much fun doing Django, and I love Westerns so much, that after I taught myself how to make one, it’s like ‘OK! Let me make another one now that I know what I’m doing.’”
While any and all further details remain tightly under wraps at this point (and are likely to do so for quite sometime), another Tarantino written and directed western is nevertheless an intriguing prospect, especially given the studio bidding-war caused by the mere announcement of his last western, and how gloriously fun that film turned out to be.
