Despite reservations before release, Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot did solid business at the Box Office last year (over half a billion dollars of worldwide business) and so it was no shock to learn the studio had immediately green-lit a sequel; a sequel we now know will begin filming next month.
Though, while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 may be gearing up to start shooting in New York and Buffalo, and has David Green (Earth To Echo) in place to replace Jonathan Liebesman as director, there’s still a feeling production is being rushed, as there are a few key elements which are yet to be finished/confirmed.
Returning scribes Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec will be writing the script (which apparently isn’t finished yet), and while both Megan Fox and William Fichtner are expected to reprise their roles as April O’Neil and Eric Sacks neither one has officially signed on thus far. Nevertheless the Michael Bay and Brad Fuller produced movie is getting ready to shoot, ahead of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 release date, which is set for June 3rd next year.
