Despite widespread complaints, a critical thrashing, and many fans feeling let down by the recent stateside release of the Michael Bay (Transformers) produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, Paramount were obviously confident in the film pre-release, and following a strong opening weekend (raking in over $65 million and rocketing to the number one spot at the Box Office), the studio have already announced a sequel.
Yes, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael will all return, courtesy of another live-action/CGI film due to once again be written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. It’s not yet known if director Jonathan Liebesman (previously known for Battle Los Angeles, and Wrath of the Titans) will return, or pass the megaphone onto someone else, but what is known is that Michael Bay will be serving as a producer once more, and that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will be released on June 3rd 2016.
Currently showing in the US (where it just beat the clearly superior Guardians of the Galaxy to first place at the Box Office), and various other parts of the world, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars Megan Fox (Transformers), Will Arnett (The Lego Movie), William Fichtner (Drive Angry), and Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost), and features the voices of Noel Fisher (Hatfields & McCoys), Tony Shalhoub (Monk), and Johnny Knoxville (The Last Stand), but won’t make its official UK release date until October 17th.
