Sami Raimi’s trilogy is dead, but despite only ending a couple of years ago Sony is soon to keep the Spider-Man film franchise going, and is doing so with the upcoming Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) directed reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man; which recently had a new teaser poster released online (now available to view below).
Re-telling an origin story we all know as well as our web-spinning wrists, The Amazing Spider-Man places Andrew Garfield (Never Let Me Go) as the titular web-slinging hero/photo-journalist/geek Peter Parker, and pits him against new on screen enemy Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans, Mr. Nice); a.k.a The Lizard.
Also attached to star are Emma Stone (Zombieland) and Denis Leary (Rescue Me); as Pete’s love interest Gwen Stacy and her father George respectively; Martin Sheen (The Way) and Sally Field (Mrs Doubtfire); as Pete’s ill-fated Uncle Ben, and loving Aunt May respectively; and of course Spider-Man creator Stan Lee (in his obligatory cameo), and all will be seen when the 3D movie is released on July 3rd in the US, and on July 4th in the UK.
