Road Dahl’s renowned children’s tale The BFG (or The Big Friendly Giant, to give it its full title) will soon be getting a true cinematic adaptation, courtesy of E.T. director Steven Spielberg, and following on from the initial teaser trailer and images, we now have the first full BFG official trailer available to view below.
Bridge Of Spies star Mark Rylance has brought the titular giant to life via performance capture, and will begin the film by whisking a young orphan named Sophie (played by newcomer Ruby Barnhill) off to Giant Country; where the young girl will develop a strong friendship with her enormous kidnapper, and find herself in a world of equal wonder and danger.
Scripted by Melissa Mathison (E.T.) The BFG will co-star Rebecca Hall (The Town), Bill Hader (Inside Out), and Jermaine Clement (What We Do In The Shadows), and is scheduled to be released on July 1st in the US, before making it’s official UK release date on July 22nd.
