While rumour had it that George Clooney (Ocean’s 11) was due to take on the lead role of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. we now know that to be untrue, yet that doesn’t mean Steven Soderbergh’s (Contagion) planned adaptation of the classic TV show is without a lead actor; as Warner Bros. have apparently offered the part to Hangover star Bradley Cooper.
Original portrayed by Robert Vaughn (Hustle) is the 1964-68 spy TV series, should Cooper sign on he’ll be playing the suave Napoleon solo in the 60s-set movie which has been scripted by Scott Z Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum), and is slated to enter production next February; ahead of an as yet unannounced release date.
