With the release date swiftly approaching, CBS Films has released an official red-band trailer (which can be seen below) for The Mechanic; the remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson (The Great Escape) movie; which focusses on an elite assassin, training the son of one of his victims, to become a lethal killer.
Jason Statham (The Expendables) will be taking Bronson’s role as the expert assassin Arthur Bishop, and training the boy he orphaned; a character called Steve McKenna (played by 3:10 to Yuma’s Ben Foster); to help him face off against a former employer who seems to be less than happy with his services.
Tony Goldwyn (The last Samurai) will be appearing as Statham’s ex-employer, and the main cast of the Simon West (Con Air) directed action movie will be rounded off with Donald Sutherland (The Italian Job, 2003) playing Harry McKenna (the father of Foster’s character).
The Mechanic is due to be released on January 28th, in both the US, and the UK, and will be reviewed here on the 21st.
