After appearing in numerous TV shows, commercials, and public service announcements, Kermit the Frog; the most famous Muppet of all time; will be joining forces with his old Muppet pals; the mismatched bunch of felt creatures and animals that stick together through thick and thin, despite having extremely different personalities; once again, for another big-screen adventure; titled simply, The Muppets.
The upcoming movie (which was previously titled The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time!!!) has been written by Jason Segel (Knocked Up) and Nicholas Stoller (Yes Man), and will feature Segel as Gary; a human lead who will help the Muppets reunite, and put on one last big show, in order to save the failing Muppets’ movie studio from being destroyed by an evil Texas oil tycoon, who’s determined to demolish the studio and harness the black-gold underneath.
It’s already been reported that Jack Black (Gulliver’s Travels, 2010) will be appearing in a cameo role in the movie as a kidnap victim, and that he would be joined in another cameo by Zach Galifianakis (Due Date); who will be playing a hapless hobo; but news has recently emerged that they will be joined in further cameo appearances by not only Alan Arkin (Get Smart); as a tour guide; and Billy Crystal (Analyse This); in an unknown part; but also by action-legend Jean-Claude Van Damme (Universal Soldier: Regeneration); in another as yet unknown part.
Amy Adams (Enchanted), Rashida Jones (The Social Network), and Chris Cooper (American Beauty), will be joining Jason Segel as other human characters with major roles, in the picture that’s due to be released on December 25th 2011 in the U.S., and on February 17th 2012 in the U.K.
