We recently heard that the upcoming sequel to Marvel’s Thor (imaginatively titled Thor 2 at this point) had lost its director, and found a new one in the form of Game of Thrones’ Alan Taylor, but now word has also leaked that the studio have hired a new writer to re-write the film’s script.
Re-writes on Marvel scripts aren’t unusual however (and generally just take the form of polishing up an early draft; which in this case has already been completed by original Thor writer Don Payne), and the studio have now hired Robert Rodat (who’s work on the Saving Private Ryan script earned him an Oscar nomination) to take on the job.
Thor 2 is scheduled for release on November 15th 2013 (in both the US and UK) and will see Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, and Tom Hiddleston once again reprising their roles as Thor, Jane, Odin, and Loki respectively.
