With original Thor director Kenneth Branagh stepping aside and leaving the director’s chair open for the sequel to Marvel’s Norse God/superhero movie, Monster director Patty Jenkins swooped in to take the job (but soon left due to the often cited “creative differences”), it now appears as if Marvel have gone in a new direction, and hired Alan Taylor.
Best known for his TV work (having been heavily involved with HBO’s Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, Deadwood, and both Lost and The West Wing) Alan will be behind Chris Hemsworth’s third big screen outing as the comic book hero Thor (as by release he’ll not only have appeared in Thor, but also Marvel’s upcoming superhero mashup The Avengers), and reuniting him with fellow cast members Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, for the apparently fixed release date of November 15th 2013.
