The Adventures of Tintin; the Herge comic books that have adorned the shelves of young boys for generations, and were adored for their clean nature, classic sense of adventure, satirical humour, and political commentary; have now been adapted into a big screen Hollywood adventure, which has just had its first poster released online (available to view below).
Coming from producers Steven Speilberg (E.T.) and Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings) Tintin’s big screen adventure (titled The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn) has been adapted from three of the classic tales; scripted by Joe Cornish (Adam & Joe), Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim), and Stephen Moffat (Doctor Who); and will find the titular reporter drawn into a globetrotting adventure, searching for the sunken treasure of a notorious 17th century pirate.
Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) leads the voice cast of the animated film as Tintin, with Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) picking up the part of his best mate Captain Haddock, Daniel Craig (Casino Royale) portraying the 17th century pirate Red Rackham, and Paul co-stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as detectives Thompson and Thomson, alongside Cary Elwes (Saw) and Mackenzie Crook (The Office).
Tintin is sure to be a huge hit at the Box Office for not only the nostalgic factor (which will undoubtedly bring thousands of smiling grown men to the cinema), but the superb animation which it contains, the brilliant cast and crew (Speilberg’s regular collaborator John Williams is even scoring the movie), sense of adventure, and the added wow factor provided by screening the film in 3D.
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is due to be released in the UK on October 26th, before making its release date in the US on December 23rd, but anyone who can’t wait to catch a glimpse of footage from the film, can find its first official trailer, and the American poster, here.
