Captain Phillips could soon become Captain Sully; as Tom Hanks has just entered talks to helm the planned biopic of pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, which is due to be directed by Clint Eastwood (American Sniper) for Warner Bros.
For those unaware, Sullenberger is the pilot who made headlines in 2009 when he successfully landed a plane on the Hudson River in New York (after the plane was struck by birds, and began to malfunction).
Sully himself is on board as a producer, and appeared happy to learn Clint would be directing the film based on his memoir Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters; with Todd Komarnicki adapting the screenplay, and filming likely to begin later this year.
