Tron: Uprising: Trailer

Set after the events of the 1982 classic Tron; which first introduced the world to not only the fantastical, fictional, digital world known as The Grid, but impressive light cycle battles, and CG movies in general; the upcoming animated TV series from Disney; Tron: Uprising; recently had its first trailer released online (which can now be viewed below).

Set between the first Tron movie and last year’s Tron: Legacy (which used the original characters to successfully continue the tale, and thoroughly update the digital universe within the film), Uprising will focus on the efforts of a bright young program named Beck, as he attempts to launch a revolution against the oppressive dictatorship of Legacy’s villain Clu, and his aide General Tesler.

Sporting an impressive voice cast; which includes the likes of Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings) as Beck, famed voice actor Fred Tatasciore (9) as Clu, Bruce Boxleitner (who will be reprising his role from both movies as legendary warrior program Tron), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), Mandy Moore (Tangled), and Lance Henriksen (Aliens) as the evil General Tesler; as well as some stunning visuals, Tron: Uprising looks like it will be a series fans won’t want to miss.

The 10 part series is due to air next summer, on the Disney XD channel, in the U.S. but unfortunately doesn’t have a scheduled locked in for the U.K. However both U.K. and U.S. audiences (as well as watching the trailer below) will soon be able to see official previews of the show; as they are coming bundled with both the DVD and Blu-ray editions of Tron: Legacy, which is being released on April 5th in the U.S. and April 18th in the U.K.
