After recently telling the world (or more specifically those who attended the Arnold convention) he was not only looking to get back into acting, but was considering around 15 different movie roles, former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger may be jumping back into an old role, and filming a sequel to 1994’s action hit Trues Lies; if his co-star Tom Arnold has anything to say about it.
Speaking recently to Movie Web, Tom Arnold (who played the sidekick and tech-guy, to Schwarzenegger’s action-hero/super-spy, in True Lies) stated that both he and Arnold have “read a great script” written by former director James Cameron (Avatar) and White Collar’s Jeff Eastin, and that they are both “excited” about it.
While James Cameron will be unable to direct the sequel (due to commitments with Avatar 2 & 3), Arnold confirmed that “he can produce”, and stressed that while he couldn’t say who might fill the director’s role this time round, “it would be a lot of dun to work with the guys again.”
True Lies 2 still isn’t officially in development, and as there’s now talk of creating a weekly TV show based on the old movie (which James Cameron has now said he’s having nothing to do with), it may never happen; but as Tom Arnold seems to want it so badly, Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking to “have some fun”, and there’s Box Office potential, there’s always a chance.
