Back in 1988 Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator) and Danny DeVito (Get Shorty) starred opposite one another, as two of the most unlikely twins ever seen onscreen, in the aptly named, classic comedy, Twins; which, after almost a quarter of a century now has an official sequel in the works.
What’s more, is that not only has a Twins sequel begun to move ahead, and been titled Triplets, but it’s planning to bring back both original stars, and add another unlikely sibling into the mix; in the form of non-other than Beverly Hills Cop star Eddie Murphy.
While the idea of the lab experiment (designed to create the perfect human being) which spawned the first film’s mis-matched duo does indeed leave options open for introducing another sibling into the fray, many fans have already balked at the very idea of Triplets, and believe the 1988 film should be left as an enjoyable stand-alone movie; something producer Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters) disagrees with, as he’s already got the actors attached, and is currently trying to pin down a writer who can crank out a suitably fun, funny, and endearing script (and work Eddie Murphy in).
