Adapted from the beloved book by Michael Morpurgo, War Horse has already become a hit play in London’s West End (and is set to debut on Broadway next year), but will soon hit the big screen as a new and emotional adventure movie; which recently had its first official trailer released online (a trailer that can now be viewed below).
Exploring the events of the First World War through the journey of a horse named Joey; who’s tamed and trained by a boy named Alfred (Jeremy Irvine, Life Bites) before he heads off to war and meets a number of British officers, the opposing German soldiers, and even some French farmers caught in the middle, touching the lives of everyone he meets along his way.
Sporting a cast that includes David Thewlis (Dragonheart), Emily Watson (Red Dragon), Benedict Cumberbatch (Atonement), and Tom Hiddleston (Thor), War Horse is due to be released in the US on December 28th, and will make its UK debut on January 13th 2012; putting it right in the middle of awards season.
