Although a dialogue-free teaser was released a couple of months ago, the first in-depth footage of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s new gritty thriller The Revenant has been released today. The film will be released on January 15, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf Of Wall Street) as Hugh Glass, who is left for dead after a bear mauling and sets out on a path of revenge.
Struggling to survive, Glass is betrayed by his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy, Mad Max: Fury Road). Stuck in the uncharted American wilderness, Glass endures unimaginable hardship, and guided by sheer will and the love of his family, he must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption
This is Iñárritu’s follow-up to 2014’s Birdman, which won four Academy Awards (including Best Picture). Also starring will be Will Poulter (We’re the Millers), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex_Machina) and Paul Anderson (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows). Adapting the novel by Michael Punke is Iñárritu and Mark L. Smith (Vacancy).
