After his stunning turn as a corrupt cop in Rampart, Zombieland star Woody Harrelson is now set to take over the role of the main villain in the Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) directed thriller; Out Of The Furnace; snatching the role from Billy Bob Thornton (who had been in talks to star, but recently dropped out of the running).
Should he take on the role Harrelson will play the leader of a violent crime ring who harms gets a young man (played by Ocean’s Eleven actor Casey Affleck) tangled up in his business, does him some harm, and then becomes the subject of his brother’s revenge.
Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) is set to play the brother, with Avatar’s Zoe Saldana picking up the part of his love interest, in the movie which will co-star Sam Shepard (Black Hawk Down), and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), and will begin filming in a couple of months, ahead of a predicted 2014 release date.
