The Abu Dhabi Film Festival was the setting for a special Gala Screening of the upcoming indie movie Wrecked; an intriguing thriller about panic, memory-loss, and survival; which has been written by Christopher Dood (The Legend of Razorback) and directed by Michael Greenspan (who also directed Dodd’s movie, The Legend of Razorback); and has just had its first trailer released online.
Adrien Brody (Predators) stars as the film’s central character (who’s only credited as ‘Man’), a man who wakes up covered in blood, emerging from a car that has clearly been involved in an accident in the middle of a dense forest, and has no recollection of who he is, or how he came to be stuck in such a precarious situation; a situation that is made all the worse by him being basically unable to move, and unable to find help.
What makes matters worse, is when Brody’s ‘Man’ begins investigating his car, and listening to the car’s radio, he begins to suspect that he was involved in committing an armed robbery that has obviously gone hideously wrong, and has to wrestle with the idea of not only being a criminal, but that finding help will inevitably mean jail-time.
As of yet there hasn’t been an official release date announced for the film, although it’s definitely scheduled for a release sometime next year. For now however film fans will have to content themselves with watching the trailer (which can be seen below), re-watching older survival movies like The Edge, or watching 127 Hours when that’s released in a couple of weeks.
