20th Century Fox has finally released the full trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, the sequel to 2014’s Days of Future Past and the ninth X-Men film overall.
Coming from Bryan Singer and written by franchise regular Simon Kinberg, Apocalypse introduces the iconic Marvel villain of the same name, played by Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis). When a young Jean Grey (played by Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner) sees a vision of the end of the world, the X-Men realise this will become a reality if they fail to stop Apocalypse, the very first mutant, who has woken up after a slumber that lasted for thousands of years and determines this world not worth saving and decides to destroy it.
Although there we’re not sure whether Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as The Wolverine, the confirmed cast includes Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) as Raven/Mystique, Michael Fassbender (Macbeth) as Magneto, Evan Peters (American Horror Story) as Quicksilver, Olivia Munn (Magic Mike) as Psylocke, James McAvoy (Wanted) as Charles Xavier and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Beast. Also starring is newcomer Tye Sheridan (Mud) as Cyclops, Rose Byrne (28 Weeks Later), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and Lucas Till (Stoker).
X-Men: Apocalypse will arrive in UK theatres on May 19, 2016, before making its way to the US on May 27.
