Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men prequel movie, X-Men: First Class, was both “surprisingly brilliant”, and “quite possibly the best X-Men film so far”, so it should come as no surprise to learn that not only will Matthew Vaughn soon be returning to direct an official sequel, but that it’s just been given an official release date.
Currently lacking an official title (apparently some office bods don’t believe X-Men: Second Class has the right ring to it), the sequel will inevitably follow the separation of both Magneto and Professor Xavier, as they both try their hand at achieving mutant rights (in somewhat different ways) and expand their respective groups of followers when the sequel arrives on July 18th 2014; shortly after the Rise of the Apes sequel.
