Finally, after years of to-ing and fro-ing, Paramount have confirmed cult classic comedy Zoolander will be getting the sequel treatment, and Zoolander 2 will officially be released next year.
Choosing the announce the film in a unique, hugely fitting and utterly brilliant way, egotistical supermodel and all round fabulous guy Derek Zoolander himself (Ben Stiller), and his longtime pal Hansel (Owen Wilson), hit the catwalk of the Valentino event during Paris fashion Week.
There’s still very little known about the upcoming sequel, and it’s apparently been through several different idea factories over the years, though Stiller has said it’ll deal with the boys confronting the reality of a world which has moved passed the two mega-stars, and seen younger, hotter, sexier models take their places, and a large company looking to see the pair expelled from the fashion world forever.
With Will Ferrell (Anchorman), Penélope Cruz (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), and Christine Taylor (Dodgeball) attached to star, Zoolander 2 will shoot partially in Rome, from a script Stiller co-wrote the script with Justin Theroux (American Psycho), for Theroux to direct ahead of a February 12th 2016 release date (in the US, no UK release date has been scheduled as yet).
