Mel Gibson Joins Expendables 3

Mel GibsonBruce Willis is out; that’s right, after a string of ropey interviews promoting his latest project, and a possible falling out with Expendables figurehead Sylvester Stallone (who apparently referred to Willis as both greedy and lazy), the man who played Church in the first two films will not be appearing in the third Expendables movie; though action fans still have plenty to look forward to, as the impressive cast list continues to grow, and has just seen not only Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, and Harrison Ford confirmed for Expendables 3.

Ford (the Cowboys & Aliens star who’ll soon be seen in Anchorman 2) has been hired in place of the departing Die Hard star, and will now be joined by Puss in Boots’ Antonio Banderas (in an as yet unknown role), and Mel Gibson; who’s been following up on the solid How I Spent My Summer Vacation by playing a colourful villain in the upcoming Machete Kills, and will now face off against the titular heroes as the Expendables 3‘s bad guy.

So far the third installment of the giant, madcap, throwback, action movie franchise is due to be directed by Red Hills’ Patrick Hughes, includes the following confirmed cast members; returning stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, and Terry Crews, alongside newcomers Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), and Kellan Lutz (Immortals); and is due to be released in August 2014.
