Fans were overjoyed when the first of the Marvel One-Shots (titled The Consultant); a series of short films designed to bridge the gap between the single Marvel superhero movies (Iron Man, Thor, etc.) and the upcoming crossover The Avengers; was released, and now the second short has made its way online, and shows fan-favourite Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) like never before.
Titled ‘A Funny Things Happened On The Way to Thor’s Hammer’ (making it clear exactly where this One-Shot takes place), the new short shows Coulson getting mixed up in an attempted gas station robbery; is interesting as it lets us see just how he copes under pressure (because until now we’ve only really seen the cool-headed Coulson having official conversations); and should help drum-up a bit more interest for The Avengers; which is due to be release on May 4th 2012, and recently had its latest trailer released online (available to view here).
The Marvel One-Shots are officially being released as Blu-ray extras on Marvel movies, with The Consultant coming as part of the Thor package, and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Thor’s Hammer being bundled in with the upcoming release of Captain America: the First Avenger; on October 25th in the US, and December 5th in the UK.
