Blade Runner 2 Confirms Harrison Ford

Blade Runner PosterWhile it’s been suggested for a while, we now have official confirmation that Harrison Ford has not only returned to the Star Wars franchise, but is returning to another of his iconic sci-fi films; having now officially agreed to reprise his role as Rick Deckard for Blade Runner 2.

Ridley Scott will not be directing the sequel to his 1982 cult classic (given his schedule), but will still be on board as an executive producer. While not confirmed as yet, Prisoners’ director Denis Villeneuve is currently in talks to take over the megaphone, and could end up directing the film, which has been scripted by original Blade Runner co-writer Hampton Fancher, and Michael Green.

The plot is still being kept largely under wraps at this point, though we do know it will be set several decades after the events of the original, and won’t start filming until summer next year. Meaning Blade Runner 2 won’t be released until at least 2017.
