Charlie Hunnam Pacific RimWith his next movie (The Man from U.N.C.L.E., a new take on the classic TV show of the same name), now in the post-production phase, the next big screen venture for director Guy Ritchie will be a radical departure from his previous efforts (having last directed Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows); focussing on a brand new King Arthur tale, which may just place Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam in the role of the infamous English king.

While contracts are yet to be signed Hunnam is currently the favourite to headline the upcoming take on the Arthurian legend, titled Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur, and may also be joined on screen by fellow Pacific Rim star Idris Elba (eyed for the role of Bedivere; a loyal and noble knight, who is this version of the tale will form the right-hand of Arthur’s father, and serve as trainer/mentor to the young king), and Godzilla’s Elizabeth Olsen.

Scripted by Ritchie himself and Joby Harold (who produced the recent Tom Cruise sci-fi/action movie Edge of Tomorrow), Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur is due to be released on July 22nd 2016 in both the US and UK, and will be the first in a potential historical/action/fantasy franchise Warner Bros. is aiming to string out for a total of six films.
