Based on the true story of forensic neuropathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu; the man who discovered a chronic disease which affects the lives of NFL athletes; the upcoming NFL drama Concussion has been earning a lot of praise, and you can see why in the brand new Concussion trailer below.

Will Smith (Focus) stars as Omalu, in the Peter Landesman (Parkland) written and directed film which co-stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra), Alec Baldwin (The Departed), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights) and Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes).

Given the buzz around Smith’s performance, the subject matter (CTE has been a subject of contention and controversy ever since Omalu discovered its existence in 2002), and the timely release (Concussion will be released on Christmas Day in the US, before making its official UK release date on February 12th), we wouldn’t be surprised to see an Oscar nod for this once come awards season.
