After the surprisingly strong Creed revitalised the Rocky franchise, we’ve been eagerly awaiting news of the upcoming sequel, Creed II; and now know Michael B Jordan will be reprising his role as Adonis Creed, in order to step into the squared circle opposite 27-year-old boxer Florian Munteanu.
Known as ‘Big Nasty’ in the boxing world, the six-foot-four, 245 pound, behemoth will be starring as Ivan Drago’s son; the son of the Russian boxer who, played by Dolph Lundgren in Rocky IV, killed Apollo Creed (Adonis’ father) in the ring.
The stakes will not only be immensely high for Adonis (fighting the son of the man who killed his father), but Rocky too; as he’ll not only come face-to-face with Drago once again (as both Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren reprise their Rocky IV roles), but have to confront some tough memories of the last time he stood as a cornerman for a Creed V Drago fight.
Tessa Thompson is also set to return as Bianca in Creed II, which is set to be directed by The Land‘s Steven Caple Jr (taking over from Ryan Coogler), and due to be released later this year.
