Emperor Adds Tommy Lee Jones

Due to star Lost’s Matthew Fox as General Bonner Fellers (a member of General Douglas McCarthur’s staff), Emperor will tell the tale of how, at the close of World War II, he had to decide whether or not Japanese Emperor Hirohito should be tried and hanged as a war criminal, and has just added Men In Black’s Tommy Lee Jones to its cast, in no less a role than that of McCarthur himself.

Jones will therefore be playing the man who was not only the supreme commander of the occupying forces, but essentially ruled Japan at the close of the war, and will be supporting Fox’s Fellers as he also spends his time searching for Aya (a Japanese exchange student he fell for before the start of the war), and while there’s no official word on who will play Aya, or an official release date for Emperor as yet, shooting is scheduled to begin in both New Zealand and Japan fairly shortly.
