After announcing a host of his casting lineup via his Twitter feed, Rock of Ages director Adam Shankman (Hairspray) has continued the trend; by giving his Twitter followers a first look at Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible) rocking out as the past-his-prime rocker Stacee Jaxx in the upcoming movie Rock of Ages (which can now be seen below).
Containing elements of Axl Rose, Keith Richards, and Bret Michaels, Jaxx is a character who has his own designs on the film’s LA rock club; which is run by a man named Dupree (Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock), and worked in by a young wannabe rocker named Sherrie (Julianne Hough, Burlesque), and facing closure at the hands of a rock-hater played by The Rebound’s Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Paul Giamatti (The Hangover 2), Russell Brand (Arthur), and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) also star in the film which is based on the Broadway musical of the same name, and is due to be released on June 1st in the US, and an unconfirmed (but likely similar) date in the UK.
