Despite delaying Across The Spider-Verse, Sony have a lot of movies in the works at the moment; so when the studio took to CinemaCon in Las Vegas they were not only keen to announce some upcoming films (such as Venom 3, and a Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel), and show off some unseen footage of upcoming projects, but even gave us the first official poster for upcoming Whitney Houston biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘s Naomi Ackie stars as the legendary singer, and will be working from a script by Anthony McCarten (who penned the excellent Bohemian Rhapsody), and directed by Kasi Lemmons (Harriet).
With the Houston estate involved with production, it’s unclear exactly how or if the film with deal with Houston’s later struggles and untimely death, though with the release date set for 23 December we should expect to see the first official trailer for I Wanna Dance With Somebody any day now.
