Even though it looked as if the release date was just around the corner, it appears as though fans will have to wait some time to see G.I. Joe: Retaliation (the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra); as Paramount have now pushed its summer 2012 release date back to March 2013.
The reasoning behind the dramatic shift is so Retaliation can be converted into 3D; “we’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally. Jim Cameron did all of Titanic’s 3D in post – and look how well that movie turned out.”; but with star Dwayne Johnson recently Tweeting that they’re “designing new scenes to enhance 3D”, it looks as it a few reshoots may have been needed to tidy up the film.
So while the John M Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) directed movie, which stars Channing Tatum (Fighting), Bruce Willis (Die Hard), Ray Stevenson (The Three Musketeers), Adrianne Palicki (Legion), and Walton Goggins (Justified), was scheduled to arrive this June in the US, and this August in the UK, it’s US release date is now set for March 29th 2013, with no UK date announced as yet.
