After the Box Office success of the latest Godzilla movie (which raked in $520 million) it was hardly surprising to learn we’d be getting a sequel. Now, writer Max Borenstein has assured us the sequel will be “bigger and better” than the first.
Director Gareth Edwards will be retuning to helm the latest instalment in the ‘giant lizard Vs. a city’ franchise (once he’s done with Star Wars: Rogue One), and will be working with Borenstein to ensure there’s more of a human element to balance out the destruction in Godzilla 2.
Borenstein recently told Collider Edwards is “making Star Wars right now, so he’s a little preoccupied, but… amazing. It’s exciting to get to work with him again”, and that while “the response to the first film was really exciting” they “can do bigger and better things” when the sequel is released on June 8th 2018, as “the world is already established.
