Going through something of a significant career revival at the moment, thanks to the US success of action movie John Wick (which currently has a sequel in development), upcoming thriller Knock Knock, and two upcoming TV projects, The Matrix star Keanu Reeves has just joined the upcoming horror movie The Neon Demon.
Coming from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, The Neon Demon places Elle Fanning (Maleficent) as a young woman attempting to catch her big break in modelling, before she comes into contact with a terrifying force of beauty and death.
With little else known about the plot, other than Refn’s inspiration; “One morning I woke and realised I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty”; it’s still a hugely intriguing project, and one which has been co-written by Refn and Mary Laws, and will co-star Christina Hendricks (Drive), Jena Malone (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1), Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows), and newcomer Abbey Lee when filming begins next month.
