His literary character Jack Reacher; the ex-military-cop turned drifter/occasional P.I.; the star of the Reacher series of novels, is soon to make a big screen appearance in the upcoming action/thriller One Shot, yet despite being months away from making his big screen debut, author/creator Lee Child has suggested that Reacher follow-up movies are already being planned.
Speaking to Empire readers recently via webchat, Child stated that “they don’t want to Jinx the success of the first” film but are talking about which of his books could be adapted for the big screen next and have even stated “they want Bad Luck And Trouble as the third”, and though “they haven’t decided about the second, they would kind of like 61 Hours.”
Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible) has been cast as Reacher (in a controversial decision which sparked outrage from fans; due to him not exactly matching the physical description of the 6”5 literary giant), and will star opposite Werner Herzog (The Grizzly director) in the Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) directed movie which sees Jack investigating a murderous sniper, and is due to be released in February 2013.
