Rob Marshall and Johnny Depp Re-team for The Thin Man

Chicago director Rob Marshall has just signed on to not only direct, but also produce, Warner Bros. planned remake of the 1934 Oscar nominated movie The Thin Man (which starred William Powell and Myrna Loy), a project he’s described as both “classy and classic.”

Remaking The Thin Man will also see the direct re-team with Johnny Depp (as the two are currently releasing the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie; Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; which will be reviewed here on May 16th); who is currently attached to star in the movie; something that Rob says has him “overjoyed.”

We still have no start date, or release date, for the movie, although now that a director has been formally attached, and Jerry Stahl (Permanent Midnight) has been hired to write the script, they should be locked down fairly soon.
