Spectre James Bond PosterWhile the production details revolving around the upcoming 24th James Bond movie have remained especially secretive until very recently; it was only a fortnight ago we learned the official title for the film, who was starring in it, and that filming was beginning imminently; they could soon end up being much more public, as an official statement has now confirmed an “early version” of the script was stolen in a recent hacker attack which gained access to a number of high-profile films, confidential emails, and more, at Sony.

Details of the script, and indeed the script itself, hasn’t yet been made public by the hackers, and the official statement released by Eon Productions (available to read in full below) states both MGM and Danjaq LLC (a family-owned business which holds the rights to Bond, along with MGM) will attempt to prosecute anyone attempting to profit from the sale/distribution of the script.

Unlike The Throwaways (which has seen its release delayed by the atmosphere surrounding the hacks), Spectre (the new Bond movie) is going ahead as planned, is currently shooting in a number of global locations (including London, Rome and Mexico City), and will see Daniel Craig returning to the role of the iconic spy, in the film which will co-star Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), Andrew Scott (Sherlock), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), alongside regulars Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw, is being directed by Sam Mendes, and is due to be released on October 23rd in the UK, before making its official US release date on November 6th 2015.

EON PRODUCTIONS, the producers of the James Bond films, learned this morning that an early version of the screenplay for the new Bond film SPECTRE is amongst the material stolen and illegally made public by hackers who infiltrated the Sony Pictures Entertainment computer system.
Eon Productions is concerned that third parties who have received the stolen screenplay may seek to publish it or its contents. The screenplay for SPECTRE is the confidential information of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Danjaq, LLC, and is protected by the laws of copyright in the United Kingdom and around the world. It may not (in whole or in part) be published, reproduced, disseminated or otherwise utilised by anyone who obtains a copy of it. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Danjaq LLC will take all necessary steps to protect their rights against the persons who stole the screenplay, and against anyone who makes infringing uses of it or attempts to take commercial advantage of confidential property it knows to be stolen.
