Despite the fact that The Expendables 2 has been the film on most people’s minds, and the thing that writer/director/star Sylvester Stallone has been talking about most since his last action hit; The Expendables; proved to be a big Box Office hit, it looks as if it’s now being placed on the back burner, as Sly’s been cast in the upcoming action movie Headshot.
Headshot will place Sly in the role of a New Orleans hitman who ends up joining forces with a New York City cop to investigate two rather brutal murders; an investigation that not only bands the unlikely duo together, but will take them from New Orleans, all the way to Washington D.C.
Crossing Over’s Wayne Kramer is attached to direct the film which has been written by The Messenger’s Alessandro Camon, and has been described as being very “fast-paced” by IM Global’s (the company that are backing Headshot) Stuart Ford; who also stressed the fact that “Sylvester Stallone is an international icon”, and that IM Global are “really excited to be in business with him.”
Financiers are hoping to sell the distribution rights for Headshot during the Berlin Film Festival this week, before Kramer begins filming this coming May; in Louisiana and New York; meaning a 2012 release is an entirely realistic possibility.
