Fans were delighted to learn director Quentin Tarantino’s next project would be another western (following the release of the wildly fun Django Unchained), but after a script leak, and other teething problems, a disheartened Quentin publicly cancelled the project, only to confirm to a Comic-Con audience last weekend that The Hateful Eight is back on.
Yes, after getting extremely worked up about the script leak, shelving the film altogether, discussing the possibility of releasing it as a novel instead of a film, and then delivering a rather successful live reading of the script at a Los Angeles museum back in April, Tarantino has calmed down, become excited about the film once again, and recently told a Comic-Con audience, with a self-assured grin, that “yeah… we’re doing The Hateful Eight.”
While not confirmed as yet, shooting is rumoured to begin as soon as this November (in Wyoming), with the entire cast from the live reading reprising their roles; meaning Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins, Bruce Dern, and Amber Tamblyn, and Kurt Russell could all soon be appearing in a new Tarantino western, due to be released on an as yet unannounced date.
