While initial reports of the upcoming Michael Bay (Transformers) produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie (which allegedly planned to have the turtles appear as aliens, rather than mutated pets) were met with a vicious and understandable backlash from fervent fans, but having toned back some of the alterations, and filmed the movie, the first official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles teaser trailer aims to fully dissuade the wavering masses, and prove that this could be a movie worth watching; as seen below.
With a mixture of live action and CGI footage (the titular heroes in a half-shell being CGI generated from motion-capture suits), the plot is still fairly guarded, with little given away in the trailer; though we can deduce that the Turtles will show up in an attempt to rid the city of an apparently rampant crime wave, and that the shady businessman played by William Fichtner (Drive Angry) not only had a hand in creating the mutated turtles, but will also turn out to be The Shredder.
Megan Fox (Transformers) stars as reporter April O’Neil, with our motion-captured heroes being played by Pete Ploszek (a relative newcomer) as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard (another relatively fresh face) as Donatello, Noel Fisher (Hatfields & McCoys’ Ellison) as Michelangelo, and Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) as Raphael, in the Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) directed movie which will co-star Will Arnett (The Lego Movie), Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act), and Danny Woodburn (Mirror Mirror), and is due to be released on August 8th in the US, ahead of an official UK release date of October 17th.
