The Matrix 4 & 5 to be Released in 3D?

Doing the rounds to promote his latest movie; Henry’s Crime; Keanu Reeves; the man who’s known as both Ted Logan (of Bill & Ted fame) and Neo from The Matrix; began a rush of rumours surrounding The Matrix franchise, when he suggested that two more sequels may be looming on the distant horizon.

Reeves stated that he recently attended a meeting with the Wachowskis (the writing/directing team who created and filmed The Matrix trilogy), and that not only have they now completed work on a two-film treatment that would effectively follow the adventures of Neo past the events of the last film, but that they may be planning to release the films in 3D.

This would be great news had The Matrix Reloaded, and Revolutions not been released; however as it stands most fans remain extremely dissatisfied with the last two films, feeling both cheated and let-down by the sequels which failed to live up to the shockingly brilliant first movie; and so Keanu believes that it’s now his obligation to only deliver more Matrix movies if they would end up being worthy of standing head to head with the first film.

Yet it sounds like there’s promise behind the potential fourth and fifth films in the franchise; as Keanu believes the Wachowski’s ideas are revolutionary, that they’re planning once again to “deliver something which has never been seen” (since bullet-time was an amazing success in ’99), and that they’ve even gone to Avatar’s James Cameron to discuss the merits and drawbacks of filming in 3D.

However, despite the potential promise behind more Matrix adventures, the desire of all involved to wipe away the last two movies, and the obvious financial gain for Warners in producing more Matrix adventures, any hope of seeing a sequel soon won’t be realized; as the Wachowski’s are currently in the pre-production stages of both Cloud Atlas and Cobalt Neural 9, and are considering other scripts following those films; meaning for now, whilst it may look like The Matrix 4 & 5 are happening, you have to remember “there is no spoon.”
