The Revenant star Tom Hardy has just lined up his next project (something he’ll pick up when filming on Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk is complete), and is now set to headline an upcoming biopic following legendary British war photographer Don McCullin.
Gregory Burke (’71) will adapt the script from McCullin’s autobiography Unreasonable Behaviour, which followed McCullin’s journey from poverty-stricken London child during World War II to landing a job at the Sunday Times, and eventually travelling to locations such as Vietnam, Cambodia, and Uganda, capturing the horrific effects of war on the people who fought, and those caught up in the various conflicts he shot on film.
Dunkirk is due to be released on July 21st next year, and while there’s no set release date for the McCullin biopic it could be some time before we see it; as Hardy has a number of projects underway, including two animal poaching dramas, the upcoming miniseries Taboo (due to air next year), and headlining a planned big screen adaptation of video game franchise Splinter Cell.
