Another title, and planned studio reboot, which seems to be going through a lengthy development process may have just picked up some speed, as the planned big screen Tomb Raider reboot has just scored a new screenwriter; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles scribe Evan Daugherty.
Being developed by both Warner Bros. and MGM Studios, the project once (mainly in rumour form) saw Olivia Wilde’s name being touted as the new Lara Croft and a possible replacement for Angelina Jolie; as the reboot will apparently ignore the two previous movie outings, which saw Jolie embodying the role of the video game heroine.
Previous reports suggested the new film would take inspiration from the latest Tomb Raider video game (itself a franchise reboot), and follow a young Croft on her first real exploration, though given the time which has past, and the hiring of a new writer, a lot could change before we eventually see Ms Croft wielding dual pistols on screen again, or even learn which actress will definitely step into the buxom brunettes boots.
