Furious 7 scored a massive $1.5 billion at the box office this year, so it’s no surprise that word is going around saying there will a final trilogy. On Facebook, the series’ star Vin Diesel announced that he plans to produce a further three films.
His statement reads, “Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision … they have been like family … I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga.”
“My producing partner Neal [Moritz] would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled.”
The actor also stated the plans for Furious 8, planned for a April 2017 release, are still very much in the development stage.
“To be clear, NO ONE has offered to helm Fast 8 yet … let alone seen a script.”
His post comes amid speculation that the production of the eighth instalment is being canned as it still hasn’t found a director.
