In 1963 Professor Charles Xavier sets up a school, and later a team, for humanoid mutants with superhuman abilities; one of whom is his best friend Erik Lensherr (the man who will come to be known as Magneto; the professor’s arch nemesis); and as the team gets involved with the increasingly hostile Cold War, differences of opinion from within the team threaten to destroy it.
