Watch Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe become Weird Al Yankovic in the first trailer for Weird; the upcoming comedy biopic telling the story of the biggest-selling comedy musician of all time.
Former Funny Or Die writer Eric Appel will be directing the film he co-wrote with the real Weird Al, and promises to tell Yankovic’s entire story; from childhood hi-jinks to his insane rise to prominence, with instantly recognisable parody records and hits like “Eat It”, “Smells Like Nirvana”, “Like a Surgeon”, and “Amish Paradise”, as well as showcasing Al’s celebrity affairs, and depraved lifestyle.
Super star Rainn Wilson will appear as Dr. Demento, with Outlander‘s James Preston Rogers (as Hulk Hogan), and Westworld‘s Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, alongside Radcliffe in the aptly titled Weird (or Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, to give it its full title), which doesn’t have a release date so far, but will be streaming on The Roku Channel.
In the mean time, Appel’s short film, of the same name, with a cast that includes the likes of Aaron Paul, Olivia Wilde, Patton Oswalt, Gary Cole, and Mary Steenburgen can be seen below.
