Now better known as Aquaman, Jason Momoa will soon be seen headlining another potentially huge franchsie for Warner Bros., as he’s now in final talks to star in the studios’ upcoming Minecraft movie; based on the hugely popular video game of the same name.
Boasting over 100 million users, and proving so popular Microsoft purchased game studio Mojang for $2.5 billion in 2014, Minecraft is now a household name. Hence the reason Warner Bros. have been trying to make a Minecraft movie for years (with Shawn Levy, and Rob McElhenney both attached to direct at different points).
Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess is now set to direct, and with Momoa joining the cast it looks like the Minecraft movie is gaining momentum, and looking to capitalise on the success of recent video-game movies such as Sonic The Hedgehog 2. Though there is no official release date currently scheduled.
Momoa however will be appearing in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, for Warner Bros., which is due to be released in March 2023.
