Based on the acclaimed semi-autobiographical novels by Edward St Aubyn, Patrick Melrose will see Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch take centre stage in the harrowing yet hilarious tale of a man whose journey spans from the South of France in the 60s, to New York in the 80s, and Britain in the early 2000s, through a deeply traumatic childhood, onto adult substance abuse, and ultimately towards recovery.

A Sky Original Production, from Sky Atlantic and Showtime, the five-part drama will see each episode devoted to once of the five Patrick Melrose novels; proving to be a subversive, savage, and above all funny skewering of the upper class.

Co-starring Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) as Patrick’s parents, alongside Anna Madly (The Crown), Blythe Danner (Meet The Fockers), Holliday Grainger (Finest Hours), and Jessica Raine (Wolf Hall), Patrick Melrose has been written by BAFTA Award nominee David Nicholls (Far from the Madding Crowd), directed by Edward Berger (Deutschland 83), and will be available in the UK and Ireland on Sky Atlantic, and streaming service NOW TV later this year.
